Privately Unhinged

Keeping private the unhinged parts of our lives is common for people and families. Privacy is different than secrets. Privacy usually implies that something in the background is generally "none of yo biznis." Privacy is allowing space and dignity until a situation is healthily resolved.

Health won't look like a Hallmark movie. It could look like a fairy tale, divorce, drug intervention, or jail. Secrets make you sick. Secrets fester. Secrets imply nothing is being done to make things healthy. Secrets are your worst nightmare because they increase sickness and pain instead of guarding dignity until such time as health is restored. Secrets. Make. You. Sick.

I don't need to explain unhinged, do I? In this case, unhinged means that the door may be propped up to appear closed but it is a farce. That door is secretly untethered.

Privately Unhinged, the podcast and website, shares some of the wins and losses that mother and daughter have made while separated by decades. Privately Unhinged, for Olivia and me, is scary. Sometimes we share the same events and experience them completely differently. Vulnerability is the basis of all fear.

We have dark, twisted senses of humor. Judge not and enjoy it. Judge and move on down the road. It makes no never mind to us. Olivia and I will, at the very least, have journaled and documented our variety of life. Respectfully private. Undeniably unhinged.
